Our City

The historic city of Peterborough is nestled in the Fens with excellent access to rail and road networks. With a total area of less than 350km², you are never more than a 25 minute drive away from the state of the art Sand Martin House on Bittern Way.

More about Our City

Peterborough is the UK’s number one city for housing growth with a range of new developments to suit everyone. These include affordable, executive and luxury housing options throughout the city, and new apartments located close to the city centre. The cost of living makes Peterborough one of the most attractive places to live. Average property prices are among the lowest in the local area and Peterborough has one of the lowest council tax levels in the country.

Despite Peterborough’s extensive housing options, the city has been quoted as having the highest amount of green space per person in the country with beautiful landscapes, country parks and working farmland. The picturesque river Nene flows through the centre of Peterborough and the Nene Valley Railway with its heritage steam and diesel trains has a station at the heart of the city.

And for leisure…………….

The Cathedral, one of the finest Norman examples in the country and the burial place of Katherine of Aragon, towers over the city and offers a full programme of musical and cultural events as well as quiet spaces for reflection.

Cathedral Square in the heart of the city, just a five minute walk from our offices, is a buzzing piazza where you can eat, drink, meet and shop. From coffee shops to bars, fast food outlets to a la carte restaurants, Peterborough offers it all. Cathedral Square hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, 2019 saw Diwali and Italian festivals, as well as our famous Christmas Light Switch on.

To the north side of Cathedral Square is the bustling Queensgate Shopping centre where you will find popular high street stores alongside boutique outlets.

Music enthusiasts will be treated to live music acts, either at the embankment, Peterborough Arena, The Met Lounge or The Cresset. Also situated in Peterborough’s city centre, The Key Theatre brings an abundance of entertainment and culture to the heart of the city with nationally touring shows, dance, comedy, live music and much more.

Attracting close to a million visitors each year, when it comes to entertainment the Peterborough Arena certainly has something for everyone from ice dancing shows to terrific trucks.

Peterborough is also home to a newly refurbished Showcase cinema with 13 screens and its own Costa and restaurant. And if films aren’t your thing, Peterborough also has an indoor Go-Karting circuit and a variety of bowling alleys.

Burghley House, a 20 minute drive away from Peterborough, also holds regular arts and entertainment events such as the Burghley Film Festival, Battle Proms and The Landrover Burghley Horse Trials.
