0-25 Disability Service

The 0-25 service provides all statutory social work services to children, young people and their families  with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities up to the age of 25. The 0-25 service is made up of two teams which work closely together, the 0-18 team and 14 to 25 team. The service works with children and young adults with more complex needs.

The 0-25 teams in Peterborough are busy, lively and interesting and would ideally suit social workers who are proactive and adaptable, and who have a passion for ensuring that children and young people with complex needs in our area receive a positive experience when having their needs met. Managers in the service are strong and supportive and social workers can expect good quality support and guidance as well as a range of opportunities to develop professionally. The teams complete Section 17 child and family assessments and carry out S47 and S42 investigations, manage cases through children’s and adults safeguarding, children in need and children looked after.

The service works across children’s legislation and the Mental capacity Act and Care Act . The work is complex and interesting. It is varied on a day to day basis and allows for a high level of multi-agency working, creativity and autonomy. Those joining the service can come from a varied background in adult and children’s social care. All social work backgrounds and skills are relevant and transferable to the service for those with an interest in developing new skills and knowledge around disability and complex needs.
